The purpose of our presentation of attractions in the Lofoten Islands is to show how visitors can better enjoy our local history and coastal culture, and let them see how people live their lives in Lofoten. The museums, and the activities they offer, will provide you with insight into life in the Lofoten Islands in former days.

The Lofoten landscape, and the unique daylight conditions that are brought about by the interplay between sky, clouds, mountains and sea, have for hundreds of year attracted painters and photographers who see a considerable challenge in visually reproducing their own awe-inspiring experiences. This is why we have such a wide range of art galleries in Lofoten. These are not major, lavish collections, but rather galleries characterised by their distinct quality.

The experiences of artists can also be yours, by simply travelling through Lofoten. The spectacular landscape is, in itself, characterised by many as Lofoten's major attraction. On a tour of Lofoten, enjoyment of the magnificent scenery can be combined with interesting visits to the many fascinating museums and galleries.
